Configure restrictions for my email address?

Procédure

LWS allows you to configure restrictions on your email address in order to prohibit certain functions and uses with it, and thus better control its use and improve security.

Why restrict the use of my email service?

Restricting the use of your email service by limiting POP, SMTP, IMAP protocols and access to Webmail can have several reasons, mainly linked to security and network management. Here are a few reasons why you might consider such restrictions:

  • Data security: By restricting access to certain protocols, you reduce potential attack surfaces. For example, restricting POP and IMAP can prevent emails being stored locally on unsecured devices, reducing the risk of data leakage.

  • Enabling 2FA on webmail : If you enable two-factor authentication on webmail, this functionality is not available on devices connecting via IMAP, POP and SMTP, so it may be worth removing these protocols to force users to go through webmail and this secure functionality.

  • Remove access to webmail: You can also completely restrict access to webmail, forcing users to connect to the email address from an email application.

How do I restrict use of my email service?

First of all, you need to log into your LWS customer area and access the management of your hosting or mail service concerned.

Once you are in your hosting management, click on the"E-mails" icon in the"Email Addresses" section.
