Thanks to the"Email Routing" tool available on the cPanel interface, you can define whether or not the hosting should accept emails from a domain name configured on it.
There are several possible scenarios:
This tool can be used to correct email sending and receiving problems when the domain is configured on your cPanel package and the emails elsewhere. If routing is set to "remote", all emails will be refused by cPanel hosting for the domain concerned.
When a domain is added to cPanel, whether it is the main domain or domains added via the"Additional domain" or"Alias" function, the default routing configuration is set to"local". You can check the configuration by clicking on the"Email routing" tab in the "Email" section of your cPanel interface.
Then choose the domain to which your request applies.
The configuration should look like the screenshot below:
In this case, the domain uses the MX server attached to the cPanel package:
You can change the MX fields attached to your domain to those of another provider or to configure a Mail Pro service on your cPanel package. To do this, click on"Zone Editor" in the blue box at the top of the page.
Then click on"Manage" behind the domain name you wish to modify.
Click on the "Modify" button behind the MX field concerned.
Once the change has been made, click on the "Save" button to save your request. Please note that once the Zone has been modified, you will need to wait a few hours for the DNS zone to be propagated and the MX Zone to be fully functional.
When configuring a remote MX server, there are a number of things to bear in mind:
You are now able to use the Email Routing tool on your cPanel package. The tool allows you to configure emails locally or remotely on your hosting.
